Hamberg has made a sketch map of the area around Hongkong and sent it home to the committee. See also A-3.1 ?

Philipp Winnes' (B.V. 350) first letter after his arrival in Hongkong in May 1852. He decides to learn Hakka and work with Lechler in Tungfo.

Hamberg now in Pukak reports on the journey from Hongkong to Pukak. Lechler and Winnes remain in nearby Tungfo, all three of them now concentrating on the Hakka people.

Lechler on p. 4 on the Tai ping man who had once been taught the Christian faith by Mr. Roberts.

Winnes on the appearance of a comet called by the Chinese the "Star of the Tai ping war".

The rebels no longer wear their hair in the traditional pigtail. Winnes also describes in detail the custom of binding the feet of small girls.

In his bi annual report Winnes describes Chinese buildings and the people in and around Tungfo.
