Report on a journey to Kayintschu where Lechler meets a number of emigrants who had returned to China from Singapore, the Sandwich Islands and other places. A building place for a new station is bought.

Reusch describes the riots in Canton with the destruction of a number of European houses.

Lechler in his annual report mentions those Hakka Christians who now live in Hawai from where he gets news of their being an example to other Christians. He also mentions a Christian civil engineer, Dave Sunderum from India, who looks after the Hakka Christians in Borneo and wants to build a chapel and school.
