Pp. 49-137 are numbered. Presumably the early pages would number 1-48 if one counted them. Perhaps half the book is unused, and the unused pages are not numbered. There is a simple index on the very last page. In view of its importance this volume deserves a modern index. It begins with copies of invoices for type faces for Kannada, and seems to continue as a log-book of materials bought by the Basel headquarters and sent to India for the printing presses.. The copies of actual letters to India start in .Sep.1866 (on p. 57), with the exception of a single letter dat. Dec. 1856 on pp. 55-6.
