<text>Two small archival boxes (4a and 4b) hold 13 school exercise books (17x21x1.2 cm). These contain the scripts of sermons preached by Heinrich Kühner from 2nd April 1916 to Christmas 1919. NB the scripts are in German. Kühner was interned from Dec. 1914 to Feb. 1920, so these are probably sermons directed to German co-internees. A loose 8-page typed sermon in German dated 10th Jan. 1926 lies at the end of Box C-10.4b - since it refers to India it is probably also a Kühner sermon. NB One exercise book with the same format (and a matt grey-brownish cloth applied to the carton cover) contains sermons dated Apr. 1894 to Sep. 1898 in a quite different handwriting. The pages are numbered consecutively 1-218. The sermons are in German, but often with Kannada (?) titles and subtitles. This book (which has no special designation) also lies at the end of Box C-10.4b.

The texts are in German. Only the first essay is dated (1918 in Jercand). So the probability is that they derive from work he did in internment, some possibly background for lectures to co-internees. The titles of the individual lectures are: Der Weltkrieg und das Christentum (40 pp) (the World War and Christianity). Moderne religiöse Strömungen in Indien (c. 20 S.) (Modern Religious Movements in India), (drafted around the presentation of 28 slides) Gründung und Entwicklung der Theosophischen Gesellschaft (63 pp).
