The file consists of two parts. One, ca. 100 pages, is handwritten on good quality paper and in a good state. The second is tissue-paper copies whose condition is not good. They are broader than the papers of the first part and the margins of an unknown number of sheets have broken off as a result. The standard of copying is poor. The file seems to have been generated in North Kerala, perhaps being held in what became the Mission’s Malabar District administration, or in the Mission Station Cannanore. The papers all seem to date from ca. 1857. The first part seems to be a collection of copied documents, only some of which are addressed to Basel. And the second part presumably carries on from the end of part one.
