There is a detailed 6 p. handwritten index listing all the documents, with their provenance and subjects, at the head of the file. It indicates that the file contains 119 items. Handwritten documents are in the majority. Section I: The main feature is 39 typewritten pages in German of a General Conference held in Mangalore 2-3. June 1916. NB however: p. 39 was not the last page, so an unknown number of pages is missing. Following this report two typewritten comments on the Conference are listed and filed. A third unlisted handwritten comment seems to be the draft of one of these typewritten documents. Section II Generalkonferenz Ausschuss und Zirkulare (General Conference Executive Committee and Circulars). This contains 47 listed documents, the first 14 dating back to before the outbreak of war. The most recent document is dated January 1916. The section includes both letters/documents originated in India, and copies of letters/documents sent from Basel to India. Section III is entitled Generalpräses....Schosser (Field Secretary Schosser), and contains 69 items. It consists exclusively of letters/documents originated in India. The earliest is dated May 1912, the latest January 1915. Wartime correspondence begins with item 58. (Schosser was of German nationality).

Die Korrespondenz in Mangalore enthält Book and Tract Depository Dokumente. Es sind die Dokumente Nr. II Mangalore 26, 32, 38, 45, 61, 68 und 72 Abschnitt III: Korrespondenz der Station Mulki, ca. 11 Schriftstücke, Januar 1913-August 1914. Abschnitt IV: Korrespondenz der Station Udipi, ca. 20 Briefe, Feb. 1913-Dez. 1914. Petition von Joel Kajoeva in Kannada and Englisch Mappe III Canara and Koorg, Part 1, reports and correspondence Section I (a) is correspondence with the executive committee of the Canara Distrikt (Southern Karnataka) about "the question of the farm". Eight of the documents originate with the Basel missionary Paul Beck, who went through a special training in agriculture in Witzenhausen / Germany in 1913, and was concerned to open up an agricultural mission in India. It appears that this institution was planned for Basrur (see C-3.4, Basrur Station Correspondence). Section I (b) is more normal correspondence with the Kanara (Southern Karnataka) District Conference Executive Committee, about 30 items (Feb. 1913-May 1914, with a final document dated October 1914). All items originated in India. Section II is the Mangalore station correspondence, 71 items, begining March 1912 (sic), with intensive communication ending in the summer of 1915, and the last letter dated June 1916. The correspondence in Mangalore contains Book and Tract Depository documents. The documents are No. II Mangalore 26, 32, 38, 45, 61, 68 and 72 Section III: Mulki station correspondence, c.11 items, January 1913-August 1914. This study was presumably based on statistics gathered by Fisch from records and correspondence. As far as we know Fisch never visited India. (See also C-5-4.10, C-10.7.10 and Q-9.26.15).

Berichte 1915-1925. Sehr gemischt, nicht alle von Basler Missionaren. Sektion 6. Zwei Listen von in Indien internierten Basler Missionaren. Sektion 7. Zeitungsausschnitte. Judging by the handwritten list of sections at the head of the file, this is a collection made by Ms. Dora Hörner ca. 1970 when she was making efforts to systematise large bodies of "flying papers" which were appearing in obscure corners of the Mission House. The contents are very miscellaneous. Section 7 is perhaps the most important element in the file. Section 1. Miscellaneous letters Dec. 1914-1921 (There is no section 2) Section 3. Circulars to interned missionaries in India, and circulars to the same group after their return to Europe, 1915-1919. Section 4. Documents extracted for members of the Mission Committee in Basel. Section 5. Reports 1915-1925. Very miscellaneous, not all from Basel missionaries. Section 6. Two lists of Basel missionaries interned in India. Section 7. Newspaper cuttings.
