Following the letters and reports from India in 1888 two much smaller bound volumes (approx A 5 in format) have been placed in Series C-1. minuting the journey to India of the new Basel Mission president Theodore Oehler in 1888-9. They contain exclusively printed documents, and although many of the meetings minuted will have gone on in English they are all in German. These volumes have traditionally been numbered 99 and 99A, and appear here with these reference numbers. NB there is no C-1.100, and there appears never to have been a volume numbered 100 in this series. Note that nothing is missing from the normal correspondence volumes for 1889 and 1890. One suspects that originally No. 99A was intended as number 100, but was given this other reference because of its parallelity with C-1.99. P.J. 09/2004
