It is a collection of important documents either sent from Basel to India or generated among the missionaries in India itself 1849-1856. Almost all of the documents are lithographic copies of circulars and minutes, some have Gundert's name at the head of the document. The volume was given to the Basel Mission by the Calwer Society's Bookshop in Stuttgart in June 1932. The "Calwer Missionsverlag" was an important publisher of missionary and pietist material in the northern Black Forest. Its second director was Hermann Gundert.
