Lord Viscount Templetown held the seat of the Irish Representative Peer in the House of Lords after 1890, from which he was involved in the restitution process of BHG after the First World War. Arthur Palliser was a British engineer who had worked in India before the First World War and from 1915 headed the office of the Societé Suisse de Surveillance in London. From this position, Palliser represented the trading interests of Switzerland in general and those of the BHG in particular. Palliser thus also advocated the BHG restitution claim before the British government and mediated various influential acquaintances in London. After the end of the war and the dissolution of the SSS, Palliser continued to be committed to Swiss foreign trade, among other things in the International Commission for the Supply of Grain to Switzerland and in the Swiss Coal Union, advising the Swiss Confederation in legal disputes with the British government. Palliser and Templetown were close friends.

The catalogue contains a detailed list of the former German colonial territories in Kamerun for the intended auction. By using lists, photographs and maps, the colonial farming areas together with the local labourers employed there were recorded exactly by acre. Thus, it is not only evident what kind of products were planted in what quantities and how these were transported, but also how the colony was organised and structured administratively.
