i.e. Dr Fisch’s report on the health situation of missionaries in India 10.6.1913, with [3] replies from India and an estimate of the costs for a petrol-driven pump and a new well in Balmatta.. Rudolf Fisch returned from almost 30 years’ work as a Basel Mission doctor in Ghana in 1911, and had made himself a wide reputation as someone applying new insights in tropical hygiene and medicine to the life of the missionaries there. It is almost certain that he had not visited India in order to write this report. Unfortunately as this Archive Guide is being drafted his report is here in its original form (7 pp), but the enclosures - inter al with their list of 82 missionary deaths -are missing. He explains that he sent out 645 questionaires (presumably to current and former workers of the Basel Mission in India), and received 299 replies.
