"[No title] [Miscellaneous documents, ?South Canara District?, 1870s and 1880s]"

Pile of highly miscellaneous documents, Looks like contents of a point where internal mission communications were collected in the late 1870s and early 1880s - in a drawer in a large writing-desk, for instance. The focal point seems to have been the office of the administration of the Mission’s district of South Canara. Documents mostly in German, some Kannada and some English. Mostly written by South Canara missionaries, but some communications from further afield. As a source C-5-5.1a.2 could be regarded as throwing interesting light on everyday communications in the Basel Mission, and on relations between individual missionaries. NB however two original documents from the Schott journey of inspection 1881 are also to be found here.
