Correspondence from Hartenstein’s visit to India in 1928-9. The file has an alphabetical organisation which seems to have been used - not entirely accurately - in respect of people sending letters etc. At the front of the file is a very miscellaneous and interesting collection of varied documents, inter al. - the printed programme of the 58th anniversary of the Mangalore Brahma Samaj (1928), (2 pp., English and Kannada). - Articles of Association of the Maunat-ul-Islam Mapilla Association at Ponani (7 pp., English, 1924). - a witty 4 p. printed account of an "Insurrection against Church-Law and Order in Malabar 1927-28", in English. - advertising for the first number of Indian Pictorial Education 1929 (and other advertising from, or relevant, to the work of the Basel Mission Press). Hartenstein’s tropical equipment as provided by O. Kübler of Tübingen.
