C-1.4 is divided into sections for Mangalore 1848 (42 documents), Mulki & Honowar 1848 (8), Mangalore 1849 (60), Mulki 1849 (Honowar is no longer named in the section heading) (6), Mangalore 1850 (6 + 67), Mulki (5), Nilgiris 1846 & 1847 (2 + 14), Nilgiris 1848 & 1849 (5 + 15), Nilgiris 1850 (19). The six documents from Mangalore filed separately in 1850 seem to be concerned with a forerunner of the [Basel] Missionaries’ Annual Conference. The indexing style continues in the rather uninformative manner of C-1.2. C-1.4. Mangalore 1848,8 is a travel report written by the Indian catechist Simeon and translated into German - an indication that other materials derived from Indian employees of the mission may be found as early as the 1840s in Series C-1. C-1.4.Mangalore 1849,6, 59 and 60 are in Kannada. C-1.4.Mulki 1850,5 turns out to be the 25 p. MS in English of the English Annual Report for the whole of the Basel Mission in S. India The sections on the Nilgiris consist mostly of letters written in Kateri [this is presumably "Keti"] and Kotageri. C-1.4.Nilgiris 1850,1 and 12 are concerned with the Will of G.F. Casamajor. C-1.4.Nilgiris 1850,7 is a 5-column list of articles for sale, with prices, presumably from the property of Casamajor.
