Affixed to the back of QS-30.001.1474.01. Crossed out with a large cross, apparently removed from the Official Collection. The white woman in the centre is possibly a midwife with a baby. The picture could therefore show a celebration held in a Born House when there was a new baby in a missionary family. The women are dancing in a circle to their own song. The lady in the centre is the leading spirit of the women's community at that time. The pile of firewood is one of the traditional gifts the women bring to help the family of the newborn child in the days after the birth, while the mother recovers from the birth. According to the family, the picture shows the mission house in Bombe and the celebrations for the birth of Werner Gottlieb Spellenberg, a son of missionary Gottlieb Friedrich Spellenberg (BV 1323). The picture must therefore have been taken on 24 or 25 October 1909.
