"H.N. Riis to Basel"

Death of his wife from Diarrhea shortly after the delivery of his child. Death of the 10 weeks old child, sickness of Riis himself, reasonably he must ask for permission to return to Europe. Suffers from liver (pp 1-8). Concentrates now on linguistic work: want to finish a basic, though not complete dictionary, strictly Akropong dialect for a beginning. Only absolutely reliable words to be taken in the rudiments of a grammar and a collection of texts. Proverbs, not yet able to take down stories and a simple primer. No text in it to be printed without first being tried in school. Hopes to be able to complete this before coming home for good (pp 8-10).
