"Dieterle to Basel"

Parts printed: Heidenbote 1848, pp 74-75 (funeral sacrifice at Tutu, noisy interruption of services). Not printed: Baptism of the first fruits. Baptismal lessons with Jonathan Bekoe Palmer begun. His father a good man (pp 1-2). Elders wanted to remove to Akim where Kwaw Dade had gone on account of debts inherited from his predecessors and the civil wars. People pay him no taxes. Missionaries council to remain; the Governor could reach them at Akim also and the removal would only cause new debts (pp 2-3). Description of the new school building: Partition wall can be taken out for sunday services. School children want presents and cloth on Christmas. The Krontihene Buafo retracted his son from school when there were no clothes distributed on Christmas. But he comes again to school now (p 3). Jonas Hosford ran away from Akropong. He was offended that Dieterle had urged him to keep away from watching funerals and pagan performances. He went to British Accra.
