"Dieterle to Basel"
Description
Sad that perhaps H.N. Riis will not come out soon, needed for the institute planned for schoolteachers. Hope in school: A seven year old school boy refuses to besmear himself with white clay for his soul (p 1). Without being asked, the children collected one cowrie each and bought red clay from it to renew the floor. The teacher gave 10 cowries, a good sign (p 2). Street preaching at Davu, the message (pp 2-3). Sad case: A man wanted to commit suicide. It failed, but the people wanted to kill him who was a slave of the king and had committed adultery with one of the Kings wives. Dieterle had wanted to dress his wounds, but when he saw the anger and determination of the chief, he finally had to give in and go away sadly. He did not want to report the matter to the Danish government, so as not to be considered a government agent, a sad misunderstanding (p 3). Next day he heard that the man had committed no adultery. People had said: he wants to die, let him die. Dieterle found him dressed the native way, dressed himself one of his wounds better and removed him to a planation so that he was out of the reach of the chief. Visit to the plantation of the chief Amamprobi -preaching there (p 4). Second visit to Amamprobi with teacher and school children to visit a sick schoolboy (p 5). His sickness (p 6) Widmann away to the annual conference of missionaries on the coast, Wesleyan and Basel. Recovery, preaching again. About Hosford and Thompson.
