"Andreas Riis from Ussu"
Item Details
Title:
"Andreas Riis from Ussu"
Description
Though weak, he had to go to Ussu. Hence he began packing and sending the goods brought by the brethren which stood round in a store, partly damaged by termites, since there was nobody looking after them. He found carriers only till Adjamante, half way, whence they gradually will have to bring the goods to Akropong. Riis justifies himself against the accusation that he had interfered into the political matters of Akwapim. He claims that he had only opposed Adum for moral and Christian reasons and that on occasions he had also protected Adum from his adversaries. That he was not simply an agent of the Danish Government is seen from the fact that he remained ummolested, while the Africans of Akwapim forced the governor who had gone two third of the way to return to the Coast.
