Glad that dried plums have at last arrived. The carrier felt unwell and did not bother to care for the further transport of his load. Glad that a few Africans have learned from him to enjoy work. Need for rags to dress wounds. Garden now in order. Seedlings, which he has raised with his own hand too-oranges, soursops, tangerines, coconuts. Africans too lazy to plant them, but not too lazy to steal. Theft of a washing bucket and how the thief behaves (no bitterness in Riis).
