"Riis to Basel from Ussu"

He is still kept back in Ussu and not allowed to return to his home. In Akropong, the Governor threatens to send soldiers to fetch him an imprison him in the castle at Christiansborg if he should set foot on the soil of Akropong. He is a man who wants to rule absolutely over everybody, otherwise a good man. The background to this measure is, that after the Krobo war the Akwapims have flouted the peace and troubled the Krobos again and thus defied the Danish authority. They would have killed even Danish soldiers, if Riis had not interfered. They did not bother Riis. The Governor called down Riis because he thought he would not be sure at Akwapim. Riis applied orally and in written for the permission to return, which was refused to him. The Akwapims feel guilty and would merit a severe punishment from the Danes. They have turned to the English in order to avoid this punishment. The shameless political moves of the English play a big part and frequently flout justice and truth. Should Akwapim become English, the Mission would lose quite a lot of advantages.
