Exchange of information between the BHG management in Basel and merchants and employees regarding trade barriers in West Africa; negotiations on the purchase of plantations; correspondence and requests for payment from debtors on the part of BHG, including in particular a dispute with Hans Schumann, shareholder and debtor with BHG, who went bankrupt in 1935 as the owner of an unsuccessful coconut plantation in Kumasi on the Gold Coast (Schumann's plantation was subsequently transferred to BHG or 1935 in Accra); Correspondence between Wilhelm Preiswerk, Walter Nusch, Werner Burkhard and Hans Aselmann, a businessman from Hamburg (Hans Aselmann & Cie), who was to represent the interests of BHG in Nazi Germany, from which UTC-Hamburg finally emerged (founding contract of 06.11. 1935 is on file); plantation sales contracts between local leaders and the UTC in West Africa; court hearing in Accra on 23.10.1933 between the UTC and Robert Okpoti Kaney, who had accused the UTC of damages in the Supreme Court of the Gold Coast for the delivery of an allegedly defective sailing machine.
