Max Preiswerk entstammte dem Basler Handelsgeschlecht, welches nach Ulrich Zellweger ab 1864 die MHG bzw. später die BHG über drei Generationen hinweg präsidierte. 1920 wurde M. Preiswerk erstmals als Delegierter der MHG nach Westafrika entsandt, um dort den im Ersten Weltkrieg enteigneten Besitz zurückzuerlangen sowie die Wiederaufnahme des Handels seitens der ein Jahr später gegründeten Unionhandelsgesellschaft vorzubereiten. Diese präsidierte er ab 1927. Später war Max Preiswerk als Generalagent an der Goldküste tätig und bildete zusammen mit seinem Bruder William Preiswerk-Tissot ab 1938 die Delegation des BHG-Verwaltungsrats. William Preiswerk-Tissot war der äteste Sohn von Wilhelm Preiswerk-Imhoff und der Bruder von Max Preiswerk. Von 1919 bis 1922 vertrat er die Interessen der MHG sowie als Handelsdelegierter der Schweiz auch die Handelsanliegen des Bundes in London. Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg wurde William Preiswerk-Tissot 1925 Delegierter des Verwaltungsrates der UHG und 1938 als Nachfolger seiner Vaters Präsident der BHG. Bernhard Sarasin-La Roche war neben seiner Arbeit für die Basler Privatbank La Roche & Cie. bis 1950 Mitglied des BHG-Verwaltungsrats sowie von 1946 bis 1950 Präsident der Schweizerischen Bankiervereinigung. Werner Burkhard-Wuhrmann vetrat während dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in der vom Verband der Schweizerishen Transit- und Welthandelsfirmen gegründeten Not- und Kampfgemeinschaft die Interessen der UHG. Ab 1956 war W. Burkhard-Wuhrmann zudem Mitglied des BHG-Verwaltungsrats. Max Preiswerk came from the Basel trading family, which, in 1864, after Ulrich Zellweger, presided the MHG and later the BHG for three generations. In 1920, M. Preiswerk was sent to West Africa for the first time as a delegate of the MHG in order to reclaim the property expropriated during the First World War and to prepare the resumption of trade by the Union Handelsgesellschaft founded one year later. He headed the Society from 1927. Later Max Preiswerk worked as a general agent on the Gold Coast and, together with his brother William Preiswerk-Tissot, formed the delegation of the BHG Board of Directors from 1938. William Preiswerk-Tissot was the oldest son of Wilhelm Preiswerk-Imhoff and the brother of Max Preiswerk. From 1919 to 1922, he represented the interests of the MHG and, as trade delegate for Switzerland, also the Federation's trade concerns in London. After the First World War, William Preiswerk-Tissot became delegate of the board of directors of the UHG in 1925 and in 1938, as successor to his father, president of the BHG. In addition to his work for the Basel private bank La Roche & Cie., Bernhard Sarasin-La Roche was a member of the BHG Board of Directors until 1950 and Chairman of the Swiss Bankers Association from 1946 to 1950. During the Second World War, Werner Burkhard-Wuhrmann represented the interests of the UHG in the Emergency and Combat Association founded by the Association of Swiss Transit and World Trade Firms. From 1956 W. Burkhard-Wuhrmann was a member of the BHG Board of Directors.
