"Strömberg to Basel"

Includes reports concerning relations with the Okyenhene. His drinking is so serious that he elders are becoming opposed to him. Also he seized an Accra man working on the station for debt, and only after much pressure from the mission accepted repayment from the man from gifts to him from the missionaries to get him out of his difficulties. He refused to accept an arrangement whereby the man worked for the missionaries and paid a regular sum to the king. At the outbreak of the Asante war-scare an Asante who had left his country several years before and was now Strömberg’s servant had been put in the block. Strömberg had written to the Gold Coast Präeses about this with the intention that the government be informed.
