Title:
"Eisenschmid's Report for the Schools of the District in 1863"
Description
In Kibi school numbers are relatively stable at 15, boys whom the King and elders ‘gave’ to the school. They attend fairly regularly and many of them would like to live on the station. Some seem to be really gaining something from baptismal instruction. In Kukurantumi the numbers vary between the six boys who are baptised and live with the catechist to about 17. The children said at one point in the year that no more children would go to the school unless a white man came to live in Kukurantumi (the missionaries agree that Catechist Burkhardt is not satisfactory and that he has not won the confidence of people for scholars).
