Title:
"Kromer's Report for the Second Quarter 1860"
Description
Mainly devoted to his description of the destruction of Gyadam. It includes another instance of the title European being applied to Africans in European clothes – this time an Accra man working on the Gyadam station was called a European by some soldiers and regarded as a result as no enemy. Kromer seems to have had the last interview with Agyeman after Strömberg had left for Akropong - He criticised him severely for filling the hostages. Agyaman asked the Missionaries to follow him to Swedru. In the second battle Kromer gives the size of the forces as 800 under Agyeman, 2000 under Atta, and the total killed both sides as 300-400. He reports that after the Gyadamers fled an armed Kwahu force came - the Osino men investigated what was afoot and the Kwahus said they were playing. In the loot of property from Gyadam Kromer says in fact most of it arrived in Kukurantumi for the founding of the new outstation.
