In a postscript dd. 26 May 1897 Ramseyer reports the news of Samory and the death of Ferguson, writing briefly that there is a wish broad in Asante that Samory might free them from the English, and nothing that there are very few troops in Kumasi. (George Ekem Ferguson (14 July 1864 – 7 April 1897) also known as Ekow Atta, was a Fante civil servant, surveyor and cartographer who worked in the British colony of Gold Coast)
