"Ramseyer to Basel"
Item Details
Title:
"Ramseyer to Basel"
Description
It accompanies a copy of the text of Governor Maxwell's letter to him dated 22 January 1896 (see No 129). It retorts in addition to general comments and the news that he planned a journey with Perregaux, Hanson and perhaps Kwafo through Nkoranza and a Mampong after visiting Kumasi: That Prempeh's ambassadors had brought Boateng in Bompata a present of gold-dust as evidence of good faith on their second visit - this was refused and sent back to the Asantehene. That in late January there were ambassadors from Kumawu in Abetifi 'asking for reception into the Protectorate'. That the Wesleyan agent in Koforidua was already in Kumasi.
