Title:
"Dieterle's Report for the Second Quarter of 1877"
Description
On page 4 is a long paragraph about the Juabens. In April the ‘Commandant’ from Accra travelled through Aburi on his trek into Akira to arrange land for the settlement of the Juabens. He seemed happy that all was well, but Dieterle’s observation is that large numbers of Juabens are carrying palm-oil for the Akwapims, hundreds pass the mission station in Aburi daily. He has spoken with many of them, and they have no intention of going to settle at Koforidua - he quotes a conversation with one man who said that the Asantes had killed 5 members of his family, and his ambition is revenge.
