More on the Juaben problem. He quotes a reply to his letter to Abetifi from Werner dd 16 August. In Abetifi they were surprised to hear of troubles developing between Asante and Juaben. All is quiet there, and no-one grudges the Juabenhene his fate since he is if anything worse than the king of Kumasi. Captain Hay with 100 Hausas has come through Abetifi looking for the smuggled powder and preparing to be a position to hinder the Juabens if they move forward.
