"Widmann to Basel"
Description
Accounts of early missionary conversation at Abiru Akropong and Larteh: It includes a description of a visitor which his wife recieved - a slave from Abiru who believed that when the Abira Fetish Priest died he would be killed. She had been a slave for 11 years among the Yoruba and knew Abeokuta well, then had been sold into Asante from where she had come to Abiru. She seemed to be a Mohammeden - was able to speak with her in broken Arabic. She had come bringing presents to Mrs Widmann, because she (Mrs W.) had been in europe for so long. Widmann makes a point of mentioning the scar which she had on her ehoulder. He records no positive reaction of his to her current slavery.
